3 out of 5 stars Lack of convenience   July 26, 2010
Stanislav Tissenko
The system is a very good looking with average sound (I am not a sound specialist, but the sound is ok, not excellent). Easy to install, cheap (I paid $430 for refurbished, including tax and delivery), has wireless rear speakers (that's the reason I bought it).

Few things to know for future buyers (things that I definitely do NOT like in the system):

1. The remote control is not lid when buttons are pressed. This is EXTREMELY inconvenient when you watch a movie without your lights on.

2. Once you change ANY setting while watching a disk (you have to stop the disk before you can change any settings, such as video or audio), you HAVE to start the movie from the beginning! I could not believe my eyes when I first experienced it. Also, it does not have any "memory", meaning that if you change the disk, it doesn't remember where you stopped it, so if you change it back, you will have to start from the beginning.

3. The description implies that you can use your iPhone with it (you get a dock to plug your iPhone). However, if you think you can use your iPhone right away, you are wrong. You will need to buy a separate gadget from Apple if you want to use your iPhone with this system. The logo says "works with iPhone", but the dock is for iPod only! Not sure that I enjoyed that.

4. The display on the main unit (blu ray player) does NOT have any information but the time how long the movie has been playing. It could definitely be more informative.

5. As others also mentioned here the menu could prolly be more convenient.

6. The wire for rear speakers (from the wireless unit to the speakers is VERY short. Something like 6-7 feet. Unfortunately, I need to get another wire, since this is not enough for me.

As a result, looking back, I wish I had made a different choice. It should be noted, however, that I still enjoy it, but it is just these little things that miight have been a bit better.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good System .   June 2, 2010

Before I purchased this system I read mixed reviews all across, Hence was very doubtful before I went for it.
The options for me also were very limited as I was looking for a HT system with
1. Component out(as my TV is very old first generation Plasma and did not have HDMI),
2. Blu ray player with Web connectivity and USB.
3. Wireless rear speakers.(Please make note that when they say wireless it means there are no wires running from the receiver to the rear speakers, however the Rear speakers are connected through wire to a wireless Adapter.)
I would recommend this system for small living room kind of setup. I have owned this system for a month now, so far I am loving it.
Pros:
1.Setup was very easy.
2.Sound quality very good.
3.Lot of good features.
4.Wireless rear speakers work very very well(contrary to many reviews I Read). I moved them across to another room (40 ft away from the receiver, with wall in between) and still they play well (Actually I did not notice any difference).
5.Wireless internet connectivity and streaming over the internet is excellent.(Contrary to some reviews where ppl said it was breaking up). I think the speed of your internet and kind of wireless modem you use also matters.
6.Looks pretty neat too with the glossy black finish.

Cons:
1. Speaker specific controls not available in case you want to customize, however there are different modes and effects provided.
2. When changing from DVD input to Dish Input sometimes the remote does not work after the switch. Had to manually do it at the receiver(would work if you re-start the receiver)
3. Has just one USB out which is used for wireless, I had to buy a USB extender where I can connect multiple USB devices to the Unit. With this setup sometimes my External USB hard disk has to be power cycled to be recognised.
4. Due to the Black Glossy color Dust shows easily, needs regular dusting :) .

2 out of 5 stars Buggy and annoying sound delay and wireless connection   May 9, 2010

I've had the HTB for six months now, and I can say that it's really nice having so many features for such a good price, but there are many annonying things about the unit that add up to a poor user experience. Most annoying is that there's about a 5-second sound delay when doing anything--from changing channels to fast-forwarding the DVR--I mean anything! To add insult to injury, sometimes the sound stops working completely and you have to turn the thing off and on to get sound back. I'm pretty used to that now, although, call me crazy but I thought new technology should work BETTER than the old. What really has me upset now is that I can't use my wireless router's WPA security with this thing. It advertises that it supports WPA, but no one on the entire Internet can get it to work. If you really like the features, you should buy this (as long as you don't need a secured home network), but it will constantly annoy you with it's bugginess. UPDATE: finally did get it to use WPA2 security with a linksys router. Just make sure you are broadcasting your SSID, otherwise it won't work.
