Do Not Buy May 25, 2009 J Tucker 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you buy this system you are making a big mistake. Unless I got a poorly Manufactured item. The first day I hooked it up the HDMI Port
stripped out and I cant use it. To compansate I hooked up the optical Jack and that will not stay attached. I have no surround at all I gave it away I replaced it with a Panasonic system PT660 Now I'm happy I
might as well thrown $300 in the toilet.

Great bang for the buck March 7, 2009 S. Livit (Los Angeles, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this sound system for my 16 year old for his birthday. I wanted a system that wouldn't break the bank, had a recognizable manufacturer's name (who also had a reputation), and would satisfy what he imagined a surround system would be (or do). The system looks great; the sound quality is impressive and most importantly he loves it. The system has added tremendously to his gaming, television and movie viewing, and music listening experience. I recommend this system to anyone who wants the benefits of a good system without having to spend a ton of money.
Be careful - not very durable February 12, 2009 John (Atlanta, GA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was happy with this unit when I first set it up and played it. I'm not an audiophile so I was just looking for something that would sound better than the TV speakers and give me quality audio to go with the HD picture. For $200 at Brandsmart, I though it was a great value. I was very impressed by the quality of the sound. Color coded wires made for a quick and easy installation although the rear speaker wires weren't long enough for my desired placement in my family room. There aren't many connections in the back but I knew that before buying it. I hooked up the HDMI output to the TV and ran an optical line in from the cable box and that's about all I need. All was well for the first month until the DVD player crashed. The picture would freeze while the counter kept going. Eventually it would not be able to read any DVD at all. And this was after only one month! Maybe my unit is a lemon but I called the JVC service center and they told me of two authorized repair centers. Very disappointing.
great value November 22, 2008 Michael Weber (Buffalo, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i just got this unit on 11/21/08, and i have to say it sounds really good. what surprises me is no bass and treble control, but the vocals are clear, the highs are good and the bass to me is improved from last years model with a bigger driver. if your leary about other reviews you read about lack of bass, trust me when i say it has very good bass, its well suited for medium rooms, but if you have a very large room, your bass could be weaker than in a medium room. it has a hdmi output for 1080p display, an input in the back, one optical in the back, and a front mp3 input. it has progressive scan output also. the speakers are wall mountable. it sounds very dynamic, i thought a couple times the surround speakers were on and they were not. the tuner is good and the remote is easy to operate. i'm not saying this is the best surround system, but for the money, it is a very good value and i recommend this unit to anyone.
