 Older model, great buy July 27, 2010

This is an older model for Polk's 5.1 lineup of speakers, but it definitely does impress. Generally I like to use weight of the speakers as a good unit of measure as far as how strong the magnets are, however despite this guy is lighter than most, it packs a terrific punch. The sound per dollar for this speaker is superb and lives up to the other reviews out there regarding the performance of the speakers. The satellites are well powered and have excellent clarity and tone. High end audiophiles will know the difference, however people who just like to enjoy their music will be delighted. A solid purchase!

The speakers are incredible. i have it connected to a pioneer receiver and they sound amazing. no matter how much i increased the volume i wouldn't get distortion from the speakers.

I picked these up for use in my studio, for my computer. They sound spectacular and wish I made the switch from cheap $100 computer speakers to these years ago. They are connected to a Sony STR-DN1000 receive, which is connected to my Asus Xonar Essence STX via the optical out.
My only complaint about this system, like others have mentioned, is the cheap use of spring clips for the wire connection on the back of the satellites. They do not take 16 gauge speaker cable, so I had to trim my cable at the unsheathed part down to 14 gauge to fit and stay put - The 16 gauge kept falling out. Additionally, the wall mounting brackets and the spring clips are a little tricky to manipulate, especially since I had to design myself custom brackets to mount the speakers to my large, L-shaped workstation desk, so I could get the speakers off of my work space.
Overall, they sound great. The sub sounds great too being able to adjust the frequency and volume level. My studio is only about 14'x16', so I have no issues with "small-bass" like another review stated. In fact I needed to turn the volume of the bass down after adjusting levels on my computer audio card and then on my receive.
Great buy for the money. They look great too having a mostly piano-black finish to match my quad-monitor setup and the Sony receiver.

I was absolutely amazed at the quality of sound these speakers produce. Not only that, they look great and were trivial to mount with the supplied brackets. Don't let the inexpensive price fool you. You're not paying less for lower quality merchandise, everyone else (including your jerk friend with the thousands of dollars into Bose gear) is paying a premium for a warm fuzzy feeling inside their head.
