Product Description Features our smallest, most powerful 3·2·1 system speakers - Gemstone(TM) speaker arrays - and a hideaway Acoustimass(R) module to deliver much of the home theater experience that other systems use five speakers to create. The speakers are available in Silver color to match the latest Plasma and LCD televisions.
New, enhanced performance makes movies, music and TV come to life. And the newly redesigned, sleek media center includes a DVD/CD player, AM/FM tuner and inputs for three additional sources. The 3·2·1 GS Series II system now has even greater ease of use and setup. The 3·2·1 GSSeries II system is for customers who want the benefit of home theater sound but would prefer the simplicity of two visible speakers, a hideaway Acoustimass(R) module and fewer wires so they don`t need to run wires to the back of their room.
Amazon.com Product Description The Bose 3-2-1 GS Series II progressive-scan DVD home entertainment system packs greater visceral power, broader media flexibility, and richer sound into an even less obtrusive speaker set. Half the size of the original 3-2-1 system's speakers, Bose's patented Gemstone speaker array works in concert with the system's TrueSpace surround processing to deliver a spacious, multichannel presentation from just 2 visible speakers and a hideaway Acoustimass module. The system comes with a central DVD/CD media center, a pair of shelf speakers, a powered Acoustimass module (subwoofer), and everything you need to hook it all up with ease. Using Bose TrueSpace proprietary digital processing circuitry, the 3-2-1 GS.II system improves the sense of spaciousness imparted by stereo recordings and exciting movie effects from Dolby Digital and DTS surround-encoded materials. Yet its few parts require little effort to set up, so you can enjoy your new system's performance right away--it even comes with a helpful system setup and demo disc. The DVD/CD player plays your DVD-Video movies (select from NTSC and PAL video formats) and CD-based music, including MP3 files written to recordable CD-R or CD-RW (including artist and title information display). Disc features include repeat and random play, DVD parental controls, forward and reverse chapter/track skip, and scanning within tracks. Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the 3-2-1 GS.II's media center is equipped to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Proprietary Videostage 5 decoding circuitry goes beyond conventional digital technology to bring new life to old movies and music. It gives you a surround sound experience from practically any source, including older media such as videotapes, stereo CDs, even mono TV programs. Advanced post-processing techniques automatically deliver a clear, on-screen audio center image and balanced surround sound, similar to that of a 5.1-encoded DVD. In the Bose Acoustimass module, 2 downward-firing drivers give you powerful performance for the lowest audible notes and effects. And proprietary Bose technology ensures that you hear with clarity the proper balance of deep lows from all channels for music and movies. Hide the module almost anywhere, even behind furniture, and all the sound seems to come from the small cube speaker arrays. Other features include AM/FM tuning with 40 preset stations (20 FM, 20 AM), a sleep timer (1 to 90 minutes), and console input jacks for connecting other source components (such as a VCR, DSS, CD changer, or tape deck). If you have other Bose hardware already in place--a Wave music system, a 3-2-1 Series II DVD system, or a Lifestyle system--you can hook it up to this 3-2-1 GS.II system using an optional 50-foot Bose link B connection cable to extend your entertainment to an additional listening area. You can also expand upon the 3-2-1- GS.II system later by integrating it with a Lifestyle system. What's in the Box An integrated AM/FM tuner and DVD/CD player (media center); 2 shelf speakers with rubber feet; a floor-standing Acoustimass module (subwoofer) with rubber feet; AM/FM antennas; an antenna stand; a module cable; a system speaker cable; a composite-video cable; a stereo analog audio interconnect (red/white RCA); an infrared remote control; remote batteries; an AC power cord; a user's manual; a quick-setup guide; a setup and demo disc; and warranty information. Note: Bose recommends that you maintain at least 3 feet (1 meter) of space between the 2 speakers with no more than 3 feet (1 meter) between each speaker and the edge of your TV screen.

Nice. Simple. June 13, 2010 B Charles (Phoenix, AZ United States) Efficient, warm, and discrete integrated system which is reasonably priced and contemporary. I am running this 2.1 in an 800 sq. ft. room and the sound is great.
Highly recommended for any minimalist who can appreciate good sound.
Sound is subjective so whatever you decide, buy from a vendor with a strong return policy. I'd place that last disclaimer on even the finest McIntosh or vintage Carver Silvers'.
Has problems reading CD/DVD - Bose is not worth the money February 11, 2010 B money SJ (San Jose, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this system at the Bose store for $900.00. More than a year later, the system started to have issue reading the CD and DVD. Very often, it does not recognize mp3 cd. When that happens, I have to unlug the power cord to reset it, otherwise the dvd player won't work with any CD/DVD. I tried to do something about it, but Bose only guarantee it for one year. The sound is good, but the unit is really not worth the price. I am really disappointed at Bose. I have read other reviews, but didn't really care until I own one. It was a bad mistake buying this Bose system.
Bose 3.2.1 January 30, 2010 S. Knapp I expected something good. Had heard it displayed in Bose store. At home, hooked to my new home theater system, it blew me away!!!! I can't get enough of it. I have a 1400square foot home, open floor plan and it more than fills the space. (Get the dandy floor stands)
OK sound, useless DVD player, not worth the money November 4, 2009 J. Piev I read the reviews but bought one of these anyway after the guy in the store assured me any issues with the DVD player had been fixed. WRONG. DVDs get stuck all the time. We probably give up on watching one out of every three movies because of the sheer frustration. Basically it goes like this: everything is fine until at some random (usually crucial) part of the movie the picture will pause itself. None of the buttons on the remote will work. You have 3 choices:
(i) Wait. Sometimes it will start again by itself, but usually only for a few seconds before it stops again;
(ii) Note the chapter you were up to, eject the disc, turn off the power, turn it on again, reinstall the disc, find the chapter and fast forward to the scene you were at. Don't sit back down though because 95% of the time it will happen again within 5 minutes; or
(iii) Note the chapter you were up to, eject the disc, turn off the power, put the disc in a laptop and watch it using headphones (nb. doesn't work if there is more than one viewer).
Read the reviews and do not be fooled: when it comes to playing DVDs this item is inferior to any $30 player you can buy in a service station. If you care about DVDs you WILL have to buy a separate DVD player as well as this item.
Other than DVDs I use this to play music through an Ipod or laptop. The sound is pretty good. However, a friend just bought a blu-ray player with an ipod dock built in (which can be controlled via the remote and playlists viewed on screen) and 5 wireless speakers for $500. It sounds about a million times better.
This item would be perfect if you live in a small apartment, don't watch DVDs and listen to the radio a lot or still play CDs. Otherwise you can get something twice as good for half the money.
I used to love BOSE till I bought the 3-2-1 July 30, 2009 D. Downey 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The sound is really good. It's definately BOSE quality in that department. The only problem is, if it won't play your DVD's or music then there's nothing to hear anyways. We've had all the same problems with the DVD player not reading discs, turning off partway through and last night we watched a movie and this morning the system won't even turn on. We've had this one repaired once and now it's broken again. Definitely too high of a price for something that's not going to work. If you're set on getting a BOSE system, I would get one just for the speakers and then get a seperate DVD player and CD player to actually run your media out of. We will be replacing our system with something else and it would take a lot to convince us to buy a BOSE again.
